UHMWPE Celanese 5113

UHMWPE Celanese 5113 Resin

Material Introduction: UHMWPE Celanese 5113 is an ultra‑high‑molecular‑weight polyethylene material. It is well‑known for extremely high wear resistance, outstanding impact resistance, low friction coefficient and self‑lubricating property, especially suitable for demanding industrial applications.

Main Applications

Industrial wear‑resistant components: wear‑resistant gears, bearings, shaft sleeves, sliding blocks, guide rails, star wheels, silo liners, chute linings, etc. Its wear‑resistant service life is far superior to carbon steel and other plastics.

Boards and profiles: wear‑resistant plates, dock fender panels, conveyor slide strips and other products.

Battery separators: thanks to high purity, hydrolysis resistance and chemical stability, it is one of the ideal choices for power‑battery separators, improving battery safety and energy efficiency.

Filter materials: porous filter media for liquid filtration and gas‑water purification in chemical, metallurgical, food and other industries.

Fibers and films: ultra‑high‑strength fibers (bulletproof vest materials) and high‑performance films.

Medical field: applicable to medical mechanical parts such as gears and bushings, as well as orthopedic implants e.g. artificial joints. Relevant products must comply with strict medical regulations and certifications.

Processing Methods

Processing Method Brief Introduction Key Notes
Compression Molding The most traditional and commonly‑used processing method for UHMWPE. Powder or pellets are loaded into mold, heated above melting point (e.g.180‑220°C), pressed for melt‑sintering for a certain period, then cooled and shaped under pressure. Strictly control sintering temperature and time to avoid degradation; adjust cooling rate to achieve target crystallinity and properties; consider large molding shrinkage in mold design.
Ram Extrusion Mainly for producing bars, pipes and other profiles. Special extruder is required with specially‑designed screw for conveying high‑viscosity melt.
(Special) Injection Molding GUR 5113 has injection‑moldable grade, which usually requires special treatment, formula modification, or dedicated injection machine with ultra‑high injection pressure and special screw. Very high injection pressure required; precise barrel‑temperature setting; proper mold temperature.
Extrusion Molding Available for boards, pipes and profiles, special‑purpose extrusion equipment is required, including powerful feeding system and special‑screw structure. Precise temperature setting for each zone; pay attention to melt strength and sizing; sufficient and uniform cooling.
